100th Birthday Celebrations
Saturday 17th February 2024

Our Deputy Grand Master and Governor, Brother Ewan Rutherford, accompanied by our Grand Secretary, Brother Alan Dickson, attended the 100th Birthday Celebrations of Brother Lord Elgin.

Brother Lord Elgin was joined by his entire family to celebrate this auspicious occasion, with various events planned for throughout the day.

Brother Lord Elgin was presented with a detailed artistic drawing of his family home ‘Broomhall’, which had been commissioned especially for the occasion by The Royal Order of Scotland, and generously supported by donations from our Provinces throughout the world. A bound book containing various birthday cards and celebratory best wishes from our Provinces and some individuals, was also given to Lord Elgin.  This was greatly appreciated by the whole family who were delighted and moved with the various messages.  We also presented correspondence cards featuring the drawing of ‘Broomhall’ which, being a prolific writer, were greatly appreciated by Brother Lord Elgin.

Earlier in the day the Lord Lieutenant of Fife presented Brother Lord Elgin with his birthday wishes from His Majesty King Charles III.

Following a celebratory family dinner the Fife Boy’s Brigade Band played Happy Birthday to his Lordship – Brother Lord Elgin being the former County Cadet Commandant for Fife and a Past Brigade President of the Boys’ Brigade.

We wish Brother Lord Elgin and his family continued good health for the future.
